Emphasizing the digital age, the project aims to exemplify the design and operation of a sustainable, connected enterprise.

Siemens is turning its base of operations into a multi-functional urban district, fully designed using the digital twin. Emphasizing the digital age, the project aims to exemplify the design and operation of a sustainable, connected enterprise.

“The digital twin enables planners to simulate and further optimize the buildings and infrastructure before they are actually constructed. The digital planning also provides the basis for operating, maintaining and further optimizing the urban quarter for a high level of sustainability over the long term.”

Siemens shared details of this 10-year project at Siemens Digital Media Day in Berlin on October 13. Bob Vavra, senior content director for Machine Design, a Control Design sibling publication, attended the event to learn more about what the company sees for the future.
