ControlDesign.com Has Gone Under the Knife, Improving Our Online Appearance
By Katherine Bonfante, Managing Editor, Digital Media
Physical appearances have become essential today for any company to succeed in business. Years of experience, industry knowledge and a college education are key elements for a person to qualify for a job, but when it comes to a position that requires the individual to deal with the public and most importantly with customers, physical appearance becomes a deciding factor in getting you the job.
ControlDesign.com always has gotten the job done. As a leader within the automation industry, we always have provided our audience, online and in print, with the necessary and latest industry news. However, times change, and familiar faces become outdated. Technology grows old, and what once was leading-edge suddenly becomes a little tired-looking.
Users adapt to new technology and demand that things around them adapt to the new times and technology as well. That’s why ControlDesign.com has gone under the knife, improving our online appearance. With the help of the best cyber plastic surgeons, ControlDesign.com underwent a major homepage redesign.
For years, ControlDesign.com presented information to its audience in a formal format—some might even call this format one-dimensional—but our new look is the complete opposite.
Our new online presence is youthful, energetic and most importantly adaptable to changes. We now greet our online visitors with the week’s top stories. This main box shows different slides containing a picture, a news headline and a snippet of the news article. Once you enter ControlDesign.com, this box automatically plays each story one at a time. However, you also have the option of using the control tools on this box to manually flip through the stories yourself.
Below this, you’ll find our Multimedia box. This features nine of our most recent videos right on the home page. Using a concept similar to what’s on the feature-stories box, you can flip through our multimedia items manually, too.
The new homepage brings you more interactivity as well. Grouped together in our community is the Machine Builder Forum, the Voices of our editors, our monthly Web poll and the sign-up form for the Control Intelligence Agency Virtual Brigade.
At the bottom of the homepage you will find our eight resource centers: Control Platforms, I/O Systems, Machine Safety, Motion Control, Operator Interface, Sensing & Measurement, Vision Systems and Industrial Networking.
Each of these online resource centers contains all articles, white papers and products we have gathered and stored for you by subject on our site. We also display the most recent product, white paper and article for each of these.
Visit ControlDesign.com and experience what our new homepage has to offer. Read our latest articles, watch our videos, participate in our forum, and don’t forget to take our Web poll on energy-saving machine design.
