On August 26, 2005, Siemens submitted an offer for the intended purchase of the assets of RVSI Acuity CiMatrix and a binding asset purchase agreement was signed between the Chapter 11 Trustee and Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. The sale was completed after receiving approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) is expected to enhance its position in the machine vision sensor market segment with the acquisition and will likely invest in the Nashua location as its global center for machine vision sensors. RSVI Acuity CiMatrix employs approximately 100 people who will be integrated into the Siemens business structure.
"The purchase of RVSI Acuity CiMatrix's assets will allow Siemens to expand its factory automaton vision sensor portfolio," said Aubert Martin, President and CEO, Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. "Vision sensors for identification and inspection are growing within the factory automation industry. RVSI Acuity CiMatrix brings a depth of expertise in data matrix and vision product design along with a host of application development experience. A combined portfolio of Siemens and RVSI Acuity CiMatrix products, services, and solutions represents a unique and complementary offering to our customers."
