he AS-I Trade Organization has changed its name to AS-Interface USA. The name change reportedly reinforces the global success of the AS-Interface and Safety at Work technology. “This change is designed to bring the name of the North American member organization in consonance with the other international organizations thus emphasizing the worldwide reach and scope of the AS-Interface technology," said Michael Bryant, Executive Director of AS-I USA.
The closer cooperation between the various AS-Interface user organizations will reportedly mirror the activities of AS-Interface OEMs and end users. For North America, the AS-Interface (an approved and available safety network with direct integration into Rockwell PLCs) will again be the main focus of most of the organization's U.S. marketing and educational efforts.
In addition, AS-Interface USA also announced the appointment of Garrett Place of ifm efector as its newest member of the Board of Directors. Place joins John Burns of Siemens, Dr. Helge Hornis of Pepperl + Fuchs, Rolf Becker of AS-International, and Chairman Michael Bryant. Place currently is the product manager of the AS-i Safety product line.
