element14 launches upcycle design challenge with Intel

15 designers will use Intel Edison kits to upcycle unwanted items

Electronic design community element14 has launched a design challenge for engineers and designers called ‘Upcycle it’.  Sponsored by Intel , element14 is challenging 15 community members to creatively reuse an unwanted or waste product to give it a new or enhanced lease on life.

Members are allowed to build using unlimited components to complete an original electronics-based project. The challenge is open to all engineers, DIY hobbyists and tinkerers who can remake something into a useful IoT device.

element14 are offering up inspiration in Ben Heck’s take on the challenge when he upcycled a boombox using an Intel Edison kit for Arduino .

Finalists will have until June 4, 2017 to submit with winners announced at the end of the month.
