The new IEC 61850 features include up to six manufacturing message specification (MMS) client sessions for logging and reporting data

IEC 61850 is an international standard for communication and integration that supports systems built from multivendor intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) networked to perform protection, monitoring, automati on, metering and control. IEC 61850 features include up to six manufacturing message specification (MMS) client sessions for logging and reporting data, the ability to publish and subscribe to Generic Object-Oriented Substation Event (GOOSE) messages for applications requiring fast peer-to-peer transfer of metering, power quality, or event data and support for device configuration using Substation Configuration Language (SCL) and Configured IED Description (CID) files for easy device setup.
