The CDMA modem enables the Nanoline controller to provide control capability via text message on the Verizon network in the U.S. The modem sends text messages via the short message service (SMS) protocol to and from remote locations that require simple control capabilities. It allows the controller to act as a remote-terminal unit with the added ability to solve logic. The modem’s phone book can store up to 16 phone numbers that can be configured to send program messages and fault or warning messages. A “last breath” feature allows for sending an emergency message in case of total power loss.
