his on-line tutorial on from Galil provides a description of the full step and half step modes, and leads into the microstepping mode. In the full step mode, movement of the motor occurs when a motor phase is fully energized with current. In microstepping, the motor current in each of the phases is adjusted such that the stopping position changes in proportions to the current.
