Here's a quick update about two of the many exhibitors that caught my attention at September's IMTS 2012 in Chicago. I'll do more as I can. The event now includes an Industrial Automation North America (IANA) conference and exhibitor component produced by Deutsche Messe, the folks who do the Hannover Fair.

Senior Digital Editor Katherine Bonfante and I spent the majority of today at IMTS 2012 speaking with machine builders and industry professionals to find out if their product research and buying habits have changed over the years due to the way digital has transitioned our marketplace.

After doing a bit more snooping around to try to confirm the freshness of the joint project between MAS-IAS; Creare, the cryogenics experts; and the U.S. Navy, to build a titantium machining center that doesn't use tool coolant [that's what I said, it doesn't use coolant], and doubles the rate...
It's time to start thinking about pre-IMTS promotion. Steve Miller and The Assn. for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) marketing staff will review some of the tips and tricks you can use to attract visitors to your booth and help you spend less doing it.
