The murmur about whether a manufacturing job skills gaps exists because salaries and wages in those skills areas actually are too low to attract interest, continues to show up. It seems to have moved from a low grumble to an audible growl.

There's some apparent good U.S. economic news in the contract manufacturing world. Let's hope that can manifest itself into orders for new machines or upgrades of old ones.

We continue to hear more about the "re-shoring" of American manufacturing. Apparently, U.S. manufacturers are finding more reasons to bring production back home. Raj Batra, president of Siemens Industry's Industry Automation division, and Helmuth Ludwig, CEO of Siemens Industry, both talked about it during the company's latest Automation Summit last month.
