Sensors Expo and ATX East Head June Events

April 25, 2008
Roboticist James McLurkin Will Speak at The Sensors Expo & Conference 2008

The Sensors Expo & Conference comes to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., June 9-11. Massachusetts Institute of Technology roboticist James McLurkin—recognized by Time magazine as one of the world’s five leading robotics engineers—will give the June 10 keynote presentation on the logistics of creativity. McLurkin is the developer of the world’s largest robot swarm.

Pre-conference symposia on DAQ, nanotechnology and microelectromechanical systems and powering sensor applications will be held on June 9, followed by two days of conference tracks that include seminars on measurement and detection; emerging sensor technologies; wireless sensing; systems and embedded intelligence; power management; green sensing technologies; standards; and transportation infrastructure monitoring.

”The market for sensors and related technologies is expanding at a phenomenal rate,” says Tom Bliss, group conference director at Questex Media Group, the conference producer. “This year’s conference program will help attendees learn about the latest solutions, evaluate emerging standards and solve new design challenges.”

The June 11 keynote panel, “Innovation at a Crossroads,” will examine the pros and cons of product and platform innovation. A panel comprising Nathaniel M. Sims, MD, physician advisor and MIT Innovation Lab member, Partners HealthCare Biomedical Engineering at Massachusetts General Hospital; Audley Brown, director of advanced propulsion system controls, powertrain division at General Motors; Jon Fredrickson, director of Innovation Expansion, InnoCentive.com; and Patricia Seybold, author of “Outside Innovation,” and founder and CEO of Patricia Seybold Group will be moderated by John Hanks, vice president of measurement and control at National Instruments.

The expo will be open June 10-11.

Canon Communications’ ATX East arrives at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, June 3-5. The ATX East registration badge includes complimentary admission to five co-located manufacturing shows, including MD&M East, EastPack, PLASTEC East, Atlantic Design & Manufacturing and Green Manufacturing Expo.

The show will feature exhibitors demonstrating adhesives/dispensing equipment, assembly systems, custom automation, control software/hardware, materials handling, motion control, robotics, sensors and vision inspection systems.
