Data Can Entertain, Too

April 6, 2008
Here’s What’s New This Month at ControlDesign.com, the Exclusive Home of Our Virtual Content
By Katherine Bonfante, Managing Editor, Digital Media

Here at ConrolDesign.com we continue to post new and interactive things for you to do. We have new videos, white papers, blog postings and a new poll.

Do you use FPGA-based controllers? This is the newest poll question on our site. We want to know why you use or don’t use this emerging controller technology. Go to ControlDesign.com/webpoll and voice your opinion.

In March, we sent out an invitation to take our Annual Salary and State-of-Mind Survey. In it, we asked you to answer a few questions about the number of years you’ve been working with machine control and automation, what gives you job satisfaction, how concerned you are about job security and other subjects.

The quality of our survey data depends on the time you take to complete it. Your time and input are valuable to us, and as a token of our appreciation, we invite those who complete this survey to enroll in a drawing for gift certificates.

Don’t forget to check out our Machine Builder Forum. Here you can react to, comment on or disagree with postings from all the Control Design editors. Start your own thread if you want to.

We constantly post blog entries on topics covering automation professionals, new technology trends, engineering, I/O hardware, lean manufacturing methods and others. Log on to ControlDesign.com/mbf and read our entry on the world’s most wired airports. Here, you’ll find a list of the top 10 airports with Web access. How convienient is this when you travel?

MBF also lets us answer comments or questions posted by you. We invite you to participate in this forum by posting your own questions or commenting on our entries. Log on to MBF, and let us know what’s on your mind.

When it comes to videos, our latest addition is our Q1 Market Intelligence Report on I/O Systems. Believe me when I say that you have never seen I/O data presented like this before.

Control Design’s editors had the best time recording this video. We decided to try a new take on how to provide you with important information that at times is difficult to follow and is not so exciting to read or to watch.

The video contains newly released inside information on I/O systems collected from your peers. It features the work of our intelligence-gathering field agents covering topics such as I/O location, signal requirements, controller technology, connectivity and annual spending.

Our Market Intelligence Report provides you with the I/O system information you’re seeking. And this video entertains you while teaching you about I/O systems.

If you haven’t watched it yet, come to our home page and watch it there. You can also view it at ControlDesign.com/mir08.
