This past month, Editor in Chief Mike Bacidore of Control Design's sister publication, Plant Services, reported on what Phoenix Contact did on earth day.

The company put their new combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) system to good use.

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Phoenix Contact's president, Jack Nehlig, ceremonially disconnected from the electric grid.

The CCHP system is a natural gas, fixed microturbine system that will generate enough electricity to power the company’s Americas
headquarters about 65%of the time. It will also heat and cool the facility independent of external sources.

Pretty cool stuff going on in Middletown, Pa. Read the whole report here to find out what happened!
