Sustainable Equipment Renovations

The recession has changed the way people are behaving, especially when it comes to savings, says Peter Williams, automation and process control manager at Fonterra Co-operative Group, headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand. During the Food and Beverage Industry Forum at Rockwell Automation Fair in Houston, Williams discussed how its key yogurt packaging machines underwent major changes to be more sustainable. Fonterra teamed up with Rockwell Automation and local contractors to make changes to its machine's HMI, servo systems and PLC communication.
