Crimp and cleave optical fiber termination technology was developed for applying connectors to hard-clad silica (HCS) and graded-index hard coat silica (GiHCS) optical fibers. The process of installing crimp and cleave connectors requires no specialized skill. The connectors assemble quickly and easily, requiring no messy epoxies and no polishing. With a few simple tools, SC, V-Pin, ST, SMA or F07 connectors can be installed on HCS- and GiHCS-based optical fiber cables in minutes or less. The technology is designed specifically for HCS and GiHCS optical fibers with 200-/230-µm hard polymer cladding.
