Middle-school students partake in hands-on learning in science with content experts, visit STEM research facilities in the Research Triangle Park Laboratories, Raleigh, NC, and work with Team Marbles educators to engage with younger students.

Marbles STEM Play Corps invites seventh and eight-grade students to sign up for the year-long program, beginning May 2014 thru April 2015.

There are three educational events part of the program:

STEM Play Corps Basic Training
May 3 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and May 4 (1 p.m. - 5 p.m.)
Students will dive deep into nanoscience and technology, visit nanoscience research facilities at Duke University, participate in leadership development training and learn how to engage younger children in STEM play and exploration.

STEM Play Practice
Summer 2014 (Offered weekly from 12 p.m. -1 p.m.)
Students will use their new knowledge and skills in STEM play with Marbles campers during STEM Play sessions throughout the summer. Here, they will receive coaching and mentoring from Marbles' STEM Play staff.

STEM Play Delivery
Sept. 2014 - April 2015
Students will participate in monthly opportunities to deliver STEM Play at Marbles Kids Museum. Here, they will work along guest star scientists from local universities and STEM companies. Additional STEM Play Corps training and activities are available. Participants may continue to volunteer as part of the STEM Play Corps for as long as they like.

Students must submit their applications with two online recommendations, either from a teacher or another adult, by March 15 to be considered. Only twenty candidates will be selected for the program.
