Lattice Semiconductor and Helion Partner to Develop FPGAs for New Camera Solutions

FPGA, PLD, programmable power management and clock management solutions provider, Lattice Semiconductor, and CMOS image sensor technology and TFT display systems consultant, Helion, have teamed up to develop a low-density FPGA that accelerate design, development and deployment of new camera solutions for a variety of industries.

Several of the design solutions will be demonstrated at week's SPS IPC Drives exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany. Attendees can learn how low-cost, low-density FPGAs play a role in HD-quality camera solutions for the machine vision market.

The LatticeECP3 FPGA HDR-60 camera development kit and Helion's IONOS image signal processing IP will be used by experts to demonstrate megapixel and HD solutions using Sony IMX104 and IMX136 image sensors and an On Semiconductor VITA 1300 global shutter sensor, according to Lattice Semiconductor. The LatticeECP3 FPGA easily interfaces with HD sensors, processes images for intelligent analytics and uses a high-speed I/O or a combination of integrated SERDES channels to output video.

Other demonstrations from experts include CSI-2 solutions showcasing the HDR-60 camera development kit's capabilities and machine vision and human machine interface solutions for industrial automation applications.

"Lattice display, image and motion reference designs enable OEMs to quickly build and roll out next-generation products," said Kambiz Khalilian, strategic marketing manager for Industrial & Automotive segments at Lattice. "Lattice not only provides the perfect low-cost FPGA technology to adapt to different interfaces, we also provide complete designs that make adding imaging to any system easily-achievable."
