When serial device servers were first developed, there was a minimal gap between connected devices and remote networked PCs. However, as data communications technology evolves, serial ports have now become a thing of the past. OEMs, suppliers, equipment integrators and their customers will always have a need for serial communication. In order to be successful, they must know how to handle the communications gap.
