ODVA's 23rd term leadership and strategic initiatives unveiled at 22nd annual meeting

Membership growth, EtherNet/IP enhancements and global cooperation highlight ODVA's announcements

Leadership for ODVA’s 23rd term was elected and announced at the 22nd Annual Meeting of Members in El Vendrell, Spain, bringing to a conclusion a term that saw ODVA membership increase to 400 companies, as well as a host of EtherNet/IP enhancements to address security, process automation and single-pair Ethernet (SPE), an increased focused on global cooperation and an acceleration of digital communication and content, including virtual learning and educational videos.

ODVA’s board of directors has responsibility for strategic planning and governance and is composed of senior executives from industrial-automation device and system vendors across the globe. In the 23rd term, ODVA’s board of directors are:

• Dr. Rolf Birkhofer, managing director of Endress+Hauser Process Solutions for Endress+Hauser

• Jon DeSouza, president and CEO of Harting Americas for Harting

• Satoshi Kojima, general manager of network product management group, controller division for Omron

• Davis Mathews, senior vice president of the Industry Management and Automation at Phoenix Contact USA for Phoenix Contact

• Scott Miller, vice president, Digital & Platform Technologies for Rockwell Automation

• Thomas Petersen, senior director of fieldbus and system integration for Danfoss

• Brian Reynolds, CTO, projects & automation solutions for Honeywell

• André Uhl, vice president of technology and architecture for Schneider Electric.

The corporate leadership of the organization collectively defines and executes the strategic plan, oversees development and publication of technology and specifications, and is responsible for governance of the organization. In the 23rd term, ODVA’s corporate officers are: 

• Dr. Al Beydoun, president & executive director

• Adrienne Meyer, vice president of operations and membership

• Christopher Lynch, corporate secretary

• Scott Miller, treasurer

• Joakim Wiberg, chief technology officer.

ODVA’s Technical Review Board (TRB) oversees the development of technology and standards for the organization, including approval of technology enhancements for inclusion in the ODVA specifications which encompass the common industrial protocol (CIP) and its network adaptations of CIP, including EtherNet/IP and DeviceNet. In its 23rd term, ODVA’s TRB representatives are:

ODVA’s Market Advisory Committee (MAC) assesses the state and future of ODVA technologies, including their global and regional adoption and utilization. In its 23rd term, ODVA’s MAC representatives are:

• Magnus Jansson of HMS Networks

• Arnold Offner of Phoenix Contact

“ODVA is pleased to have achieved significant advances in TSN conformance test preparation, energy management collaboration, PA-DIM ownership, the launch of Ethernet-APL and the availability of Process Device Profiles for EtherNet/IP over the course of the 22nd term,” said Beydoun. “ODVA would like to thank the leadership, including the board of directors, the technical review board, and the market advisory committee, for their valuable contributions in making all of the valuable EtherNet/IP enhancements and strategic collaborations possible.”

ODVA anticipates that it will announce the dates and location for its 2025 Industry Conference & 23rd Annual Meeting in the second quarter of 2024.
