Texas Instruments Is Teaming Up With iRobot to Develop New Robotic Technologies

Texas Instruments (TI) and iRobot announced a partnership to develop robotic technologies using TI’s smart multicore OMAP platform. The companies aim to create intelligent and practical robots based on iRobot’s experience in remote presence and automated home maintenance solutions, along with TI’s strength in applications processors and related technologies.

To date, iRobot has sold more than 7.5 million home robots worldwide, and more than 4,500 government and industrial robots. TI brings to the partnership the OMAP platform, whose smart multicore architecture sends processing tasks to cores and engines that can best do the job using the least amount of power possible.
