HMS and Ixxat Expand Communication Technology Solutions

Acquisition Creates Opportunity for Market Expansion and Product Offerings
In an effort to create a more competitive offering of communication technology solutions, HMS has acquired hardware and software solutions provider Ixxat.Together, with HMS as a competitor in Profibus and Profinet, and DeviceNet and EtherNet/IP markets, and Ixxat as a competitor in CAN-based, EtherCAT, Powerlink and FlexRay markets, the companies will become an industrial communications group with 350 employees, expecting more than €50 million (almost $67 million) in sales."We see great opportunities to further widen the market for our product offering by getting access to HMS's well-established global sales channels," says Christian Schlegel, managing director for Ixxat. "HMS's hi-tech product platforms will also be great assets for our ongoing development projects and for new technologies."Ixxat also offers software and hardware solutions, customized hardware components within embedded subsystems and complete embedded system solutions in a range of global markets, according to Ixxat."Ixxat's hi-tech products and services are great supplements to HMS's business," says Staffan Dahlström, CEO at HMS Industrial Networks. "Their strong product offering and market position will strengthen our presence especially in Central Europe."Ixxat has subsidiaries in the U.S. and France, and sells its products via distributors in 25 countries.
