Firmware 2.1 for the Simatic S7-1500 advanced controller enables the use of Engineering Framework TIA Portal V14 SP1 functions. They include openness to other systems, such as the standardized, bi-directional exchange of engineering data via Automation Markup Language (AutomationML) with Eplan engineering software, the TIA selection tool or other computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools. The two fail-safe 1511TF-1 PN and 1515TF-2 PN technology CPUs are additions to the Simatic S7-1500 portfolio. The fail-safe Simatic S7-1500 T-CPUs combine extended motion control functionalities, such as gearing and camming, with safety-related applications in a single device.
