Watch: Step-by-Step AC-Operated LVDT Sensor Calibration

Jan. 1, 2000

Calibration is necessary before the installation of AC-operated linear position sensor and corrects any slight variances between sensors.

Accuracy and reliability go hand in hand when it comes to calibration.

Calibration is necessary before the installation of AC-operated linear position sensor and corrects any slight variances between sensors, according to Macro Sensors.

Linear LVDT sensor outputs make two-point calibration easy. It is important to remember that the two points should be as far apart as possible within the linear range of the LVDT position sensor. If an LVDT is used on both sides of the null in an application, the calibration points should cover the entire distance of the measurement range. In instances such as this, three calibration points are preferred.

There are three possible conditions for calibration use:

- Same mountings and surroundings
- Same excitation voltage
- Frequency

Macro Sensors' EAZY CAL signal conditioner offers a front-panel fingertip routine that makes field calibration simple. Learn how the calibration of a LVDT linear position sensor is made easy with the use of the EAZY CAL signal conditioner.

This video discusses calibration equipment, mechanical mounting of the signal conditioner, input and output connections and more.
