TUV Rheinland of North America (www.us.tuv.com), a global regulatory compliance testing and certification firm, announced that it is working with the Wi-Fi Alliance (www.wi-fi.org) to become a qualified test laboratory to perform Wi-Fi certification testing for the alliance members. Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) allows the user to connect to the Internet from virtually anywhere there is a base station without wires and at speeds faster than a modem connection.
The Wi-Fi Alliance is a non-profit international association formed in 1999 to certify interoperability of wirelss local area network products based on IEEE 802.11 specification. Currently, the Wi-Fi Alliance has more than 200 member companies from around the world, and more than 1,250 products that have received Wi-Fi certification since March 2000.
