Phoenix Contact Inc. ( announced it has acquired Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Entivity, Inc. The move, says the company, provides it with a U.S.-based PC control software resource and will allow it to deliver PC-based control software applications on its hardware platforms, provide PC functionality in embedded form factors, and offer a much greater range of applications to its customers.

According to Phoenix Contact, it has been working informally with Entivity, best known for its “Steeplechase” and “Think & DO” control applications, since its inception and more closely with the software maker on joint solutions since November 2002.

“Adding Entivity’s software brands to Phoenix Contact’s solution portfolio,” says David Skelton, Director of Automation Systems for Phoenix Contact, “further strengthens our vision of modular automation as a viable, strategic alternative to traditional control architectures.”

With U.S. headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa. and world headquarters in Blomberg, Germany, Phoenix Contact is a global supplier of industrial automation, interconnection, and interface solutions and serves a wide variety of customers in the automotive, industrial controls, material handling and process industries.
