This year's Pack Expo, Sept. 26-28 in Las Vegas, will debut an Innovation Stage Program, 30-minute live seminars detailing innovations in the baking and snack, confectionery and pharmaceutical industries. Three seminars will be held in each of the three industry-specific lounges on Monday and Tuesday of the show. In addition, each lounge will house an Ask the Expert forum, where attendees can receive guidance from experts on packaging- and processing-related challenges.

PMMI also has partnered with five industry organizations to develop more customer-centric programming: the Alliance for Innovation & Operational Excellence (AIOE), Converting & Package Printing (CPP) Expo, the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP), the International Society of Beverage Technologists (ISBT), and the Reusable Packaging Association (RPA).

The result is a program that is strong in consumer packaged goods (CPG) participants, including Coca-Cola, General Mills and Estee Lauder Cosmetics. "This year's program is much different, and one of the strongest I can remember," said Maria Ferrante, vice president of education and workforce development for PMMI.

Pack Expo's Leadership Lecture on Tuesday will feature retired General Colin L. Powell as the keynote speaker, talking about "Diplomacy: Persuasion, Trust and Values."
