Partnership Speeds Up Shipment Process of Flexible Cables

Electronic components distributor Digi-Key signed a global distribution agreement with Cicoil, which makes flexible flat cable used in industrial and military applications. The agreement enables Cicoil's cables to be purchased online for distribution anywhere in the world.

"Due to Digi-Key's worldwide reach and exposure, Cicoil's flexible cables will now be readily available to purchase online, for immediate shipment anywhere in the world.," said Howard Lind, president and CEO of Cicoil.

Cicoil designs custom cable assemblies for a variety of environments, applications and equipment. The flexible cable and wire products are built to withstand harsh environments. Cables and wires are used in medical equipment and in automated robotic process equipment, where cables must be able to handle millions of flexing and repetitive cycles. The cables can withstand medical or industrial chemicals, and meet NASA or ESA outgassing requirements, according to Cicoil.

"The commercial and military aerospace industries are an expanding market, and Cicoil is ideally placed to serve this area of growth," said Tom Busher, vice president of global interconnect, passives and electromechanical products for Digi-Key. "Cicoil's rugged product provides a unique dimension to our line card and we are pleased to enter into this partnership."
