MicroDynamics and BW Converting have partnered to integrate advanced anilox inspection technology within the PCMC Meridian Elite+ laser roll cleaner. MicroDynaics manufacturers surface profile inspection systems, and BW Converting supplies printing, packaging and converting machinery.
The non-exclusive partnership features a MicroDynamics’ Veritas inspection microscope and MicroScan3 analysis software integrated directly into BW Converting’s laser roll cleaner.
The Meridian Elite+ laser roll cleaner is engineered for converters to improve print repeatability, reduce defects and extend roll longevity. By automating roll cleaning and inspection, the system reduces manual intervention, freeing up operators to focus on other critical tasks while capturing consistent, accurate inventory data for optimization.
“The Meridian Elite+ represents a significant step forward in anilox and gravure roll cleaning technology,” says Mike Branstrom, product manager, BW Converting. “Adding the MicroDynamics Veritas inspection microscope and analysis software is a gamechanger. We’re combining automation with smart, connected features to give converters a powerful tool for optimizing pressroom efficiency, extending roll life and maintaining exceptional print quality.”
With MicroDynamics technology onboard, the Meridian Elite+ can capture fully automated cell volume measurements with ±1% repeatability, powered by the Veritas microscope and controlled through the Meridian Elite+ human-machine interface (HMI). Measurements are captured and stored by the MicroScan3 software in a built-in database, enabling traceability and a more strategic and efficient approach to roll maintenance scheduling.
“This collaboration enables true closed-loop anilox cleaning and validation,” says Brent Zurcher, director of operations at MicroDynamics. “Embedding the speed and accuracy of our inspection solutions into the Meridian Elite+ cleaning workflow breaks through the manual barriers for inspection while improving roll performance, tracking, and process standardization. It’s innovation at its best.”
