Ultrasonic Additive Manufacturing Technology Earns Company 2012 TechColumbus Innovation Award
Ultrasonic additive manufacturing (UAM) technology provider Fabrisonic was recognized by TechColumbus as one of the highest performing businesses established in central Ohio within the last five years.Fabrisonic received the 2012 TechColumbus Innovation Award for "Outstanding Startup Business of the Year" this month. Twenty nine companies that have demonstrated the potential for continued success and growth were considered for the award.In 2008, engineering and technology organization EWI developed a revolutionary technology that incorporated high-powered ultrasonics into 3D printing to produce intricate components that could not be made using traditional subtractive techniques, according to Fabrisonic. In 2011, EWI combined intellectual property and other assets with vehicle health monitoring provider Solidica to form Fabrisonic.Fabrisonic's patented UAM technology has started to gain adoption and employment by research institutions and industrial fabricators.
