Industrial manufacturer of value-added consumables and specialty equipment Illinois Tool Works (ITW) signed a purchase agreement to acquire Meurer Group, a supplier of secondary packaging equipment to the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). ITW's pro forma revenues totaled $17 billion in 2012, with more than half of the revenues generated outside of the U.S., according to ITW. The acquisition of Meurer will expand its company's global presence.

Meurer will join the ITW Global Packaging Solutions Group alongside other group members which include Hartness Intl. and ITW Warehouse Automation. Purchasing awaits goverment approval.

"Meurer is an excellent addition to ITW's consumer packaging business," said Steve Henn, group president. "With over 40 years of experience in secondary packaging, Meurer will enhance ITW’s capabilities and customer solutions."
