Government of Gujarat Builds Five Centers of Excellence to Make Qualitative Improvements in Higher Education

A joint agreement signed by Siemens Industry Software India (SISW), the Ministry of Industries and Mines (Government of Gujarat) and DesignTech Systems on Sept. 11 has allowed the construction of five Centers of Excellence (COEs) across the state of Gujarat.

The COEs are being built to make qualitative improvements in higher education. Their objective is to train students in diverse industry segments such as automotive, industrial machinery, industrial automation, aerospace and defense, and shipbuilding on industry processes and help them develop industry-ready employees.

The Gujarat government hopes the COEs with attract better career opportunities for students and foster future development in the State.

The COEs will be supplied with the latest PLM software solutions from Siemens, such as NXTM software for digital product engineering, Teamcenter software for digital lifecycle management and Tecnomatix software for digital manufacturing, according to Siemens PLM Software. Additional state-of-the art equipment from Siemens Industry includes, computer numerical controllers (CNC), programmable logic controllers (PLC), computer integrated manufacturing units (CIM) comprising of CNC milling and turning machines, automated guided vehicles (AGV), industrial robots, automatic storage and retrieval systems, vision inspection systems for quality control, CIM controllers and software, and rapid prototyping machines.

All software will be integrated using Siemens Total Integrated Automation (TIA) portal. Each COE will have seven equipped laboratories with SISW certified instructors.
