Global Automation & Manufacturing Summit will focus on empowering manufacturing's future

June 7, 2017
The show will be co-located with FABTECH 2017 at IAMD USA

Manufacturing technology executives will focus on ‘Empowering Manufacturing’s Future’ during the 2017 Global Automation & Manufacturing Summit on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at the Integrated Automation, Motion & Drives trade show (IAMD USA) co-located with FABTECH 2017 in Chicago. The new IAMD USA is the combination of two Hannover Messe events, Industrial Automation North America and Motion, Drive & Automation North America.

The summit presentations and line-up of speakers will focus on three keys to IIoT adoption, including:

Session 1: Cybersecurity: How far do we need to go?
"This session will focus on the problem of security for IIoT, one of the most discussed issues as manufacturers look to deploy this technology solution. Presenters will explore real issues, debunk myths, and talk about the common-sense ways manufacturers can secure their data and their operational integrity. This session will be led by Dr. Richard Mark Soley, Executive Director of the Industrial Internet Consortium, Chairman and CEO of the Object Management Group (OMG) and Executive Director of the Cloud Standards Customer Council."

Session 2: IIoT in discrete manufacturing: Managing the process
"When it comes to IIoT, manufacturers in discrete industries, particularly in the metal forming and CNC industries, have a different set of expectations from those in the process industries and a different set of challenges. Industry experts will discuss how to get the most out of IIoT and how to use data to improve operations, supply chain and safety. Speakers include Kevin Lewis, Vice President at Siemens Digital Factory, Factory Automation, Aurelio Banda, CEO and President at Beckhoff Automation North America and Derek Harper, Vice President of Information Technology at Faurecia North America."

Session 3: Maintenance and IIoT: Follow the numbers
"The data generated by IIoT can point a maintenance professional to a problem on the plant floor, if looking at the right numbers at the right time. More sophisticated analytics are helping maintenance teams focus on the right data at the right time. Speakers will discuss how this strategy can lead to more uptime and better safety. This session will be led by Sal Spada, Research Director for Discrete Manufacturing for ARC Advisory Group. Other speakers include Mohamed Abuali, Chief Executive Officer – Americas at FORCAM Inc. and Scott C. Hibbard, Vice President of Technology at Bosch Rexroth Corporation."

The summit will kick-off with a networking luncheon on the IAMD USA show floor prior to the presentations and will end with a cocktail reception.

The IAMD trade show is held annually in North America to showcase the range of industrial automation, power transmission and fluid power solutions for the factory of the future. In addition to IAMD USA at FABTECH 2017IAMD Canada at CMTS 2017 (the Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show) will run in Toronto from September 25-28, 2017 alongside ComVac Canada, parts2clean Canada and CeMAT Canada. In September 2018, IAMD USA at IMTS 2018 takes place at McCormick Place in Chicago alongside Surface Technology USA, ComVac USA and Industrial Supply USA.
