Numerik Jena’s LAK and KIT LA families of absolute linear encoders are designed to fit into tight spaces. These noncontact encoders offer several types of electrical interfaces, including EnDat 2.2 with analog signals. This interface allows motion stage manufacturers to use the absolute position values and the analog position values for different purposes. The LAK scanning unit has a shielded housing, whereas the KIT LA scanning unit is a sensor with an optional frame, both of which have two scanning fields for contamination resistance. The Endat 2.2 versions can resolve down to 10-nm resolution at a velocity of 10 m/s.
