RM Shell firmware for VisuNet remote-monitor HMI systems is based on Microsoft Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB and supports integration of a remote network architecture. RM Shell 5 supports an application manager for installing third-party application software and offers additional security and Windows update features. The firmware comes preloaded on all Pepperl+Fuchs thin client-based products. For current users running thin clients with RM Shell 4 or greater, an upgrade kit is available for migration to the RM Shell 5 firmware. The firmware provides a touchscreen interface, plug-and-play start-up capabilities, a built-in firewall and USB lockdown.
