Siemens’ Xcelerator platform offers advanced monitoring and quality control features, especially in tool condition management

Automation World wrote in a recent article that there’s significant value in the integration of new machine tool technologies for CNC users within the Siemens Xcelerator platform. The collaboration between Siemens, DMG Mori and Renishaw offers an advanced digital twin ecosystem that enhances the efficiency of machine tool machining.

This technology provides a virtual representation of the control system, machine and workpiece, enabling engineers to optimize machining processes well before physical equipment is deployed. With the digital native Sinumerik One CNC system at its core, engineers can simulate and test NC programs in a virtual environment, reducing the likelihood of collisions and machine errors.

For controls engineers, the ability to perform collision checks and program validations on a PC not only minimizes risk but also allows for smoother integration of CAM applications on the factory floor. Automation World’s article “Machine Tool, Control System and Workpiece Digital Twin” explores this more in depth.
