Majority of Survey Respondents Indicate Normally Choosing Ruggedized PCs

An electronic survey of Control Design readers was conducted in April 2013 in order to identify usage and application trends of HMI & industrial PCs among the industrial machine builders that comprise Control Design's readership.

When respondents specify a PC the majority (59.3%) indicated they normally choose ruggedized industrial PCs for all or part of their machine control. 24.4% choose "White box" PCs, while 16.3% choose an embedded PC.
