Obama Mingles With a Giraffe at 'Maker Faire' to Promote STEM Education and Boost Manufacturing Industries

Today President Barack Obama mingled with a 17-foot electric giraffe. It was towering in the South Lawn of the White House as a symbol of innovation at the White House's first "Maker's Faire."
Today President Barack Obama mingled with a 17-foot electric giraffe. It was towering in the South Lawn of the White House as a symbol of innovation at the White House's first "Maker's Faire."
Entrepreneurs and students gathered at the White House for the event devoted to innovation and new technology. As part of a week-long event, Obama focused on the economy and promoted the use of new tool and technologies for businesses to boost manufacturing industries and support science and math education.
Obama said more Americans need to have the skills and opportunities to land good jobs in growing industries and create even new industries.
"I'm declaring today a national day of making," he said.
But the giraffe was not the only character Obama, students and entrepreneurs could mingle with.
