We provide after-sales support for the instrumentation on our heavy manufacturing machine. Measuring and collecting data on bearing wear, shaft damage, and other mechanical failure points actually is more important to us than manufacturing process data. We've avoided most major machine breakdowns with a regular on-site visit schedule. The vendors tell us we can dramatically cut our visits with some straightforward hardware and software monitoring packages. What do you all think of this?
