ABB Acquires Newron System

Purchase Allows ABB to Expand Its Automation Market Reach and Offerings for Channel Partners

Power and automation technology manufacturer ABB has acquired building-automation solutions software developer Newron System in support of its company-wide strategy for growth.

Newron System's software, which enables devices such as blind controls and lights to communicate with each other and be managed together, will allow ABB to expand its automation market reach and offerings for channel partners. Newron System software adds flexibility to ABB's products and will become a part of ABB's Low-Voltage Products (LP) division.

"Newron System's premium building-automation software solutions will gain worldwide reach through ABB’s broad sales network," said Hans-Georg Krabbe, head of the Wiring Accessories business unit at the LP division at ABB."“We are buying state-of-art software and know-how. Newron System will enlarge our offering to our wholesaler and system-integrator partners for automation solutions in buildings."
