Contract for PACs, VFDs, Software and Engineering Support on U.S. Navy and Coast Guard Surface Ships

The U.S. Navy awarded Rockwell Automation a $21.7 million contract for its control systems and engineering services. The acquisition allows the Navy and other Department of Defense agencies to expand their shipboard operations nationally and internationally.

The company's programmable automation controllers, variable-frequency drives, software and engineering support services will contribute to machinery control system operations onboard Navy and Coast Guard surface ships, according to Rockwell Automation.

"Control systems designed for the marine industry need to meet stringent requirements, especially for the U.S. Navy, which operates world-class fleets 24/7 throughout the world," said Joe Moffa, marine business manager for Rockwell Automation. "We are proud to meet these requirements and provide the machinery control systems, technical support and engineering services, on-site and through our global network of employees and distributors."

Rockwell Automation began installing its products and software onboard Navy and Coast Guard ships in 1997. The company has business alliances with navies in more than 80 countries.
