Deal Allows MAG to Utilize Air Products' Patented Cryogen Delivery Technology and Proprietary Cryomachining Intellectual Property
A license agreement was signed that allows MAG to make use of Air Products' Icefly cryogenic machining technology along with MAG's Minimum Quantity Cryogenics technology.
"The technology license agreement grants global rights for the MAG family of branded equipment," said Jeffrey Knopf, manager of Licensing and Technology Transfer at Air Products. "Air Products has retained the registered trade name 'Icelfy' and will continue to market Icefly, a technology that enables a controlled jet of liquid nitrogen to an application point."
Icefly is used in metals machining to supply cooling to cutting tools used in the production of complex materials. This process improves tool life and increases cutting speeds, according to Air Products.
"Air Products will continue to support existing cryogenic machining customers and explore new licensing opportunities outside of the MAG agreement," Knopf said.
