AGMA welcomes new member from South Dakota

Sept. 12, 2024
Malloy Electric expands gearing investment, building on expertise in industrial controls, electric motors and power transmission

Malloy Electric has become a member of the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA), the global network for technical standards, education and business information for manufacturers, suppliers and users of mechanical power transmission components.

Malloy, a long-standing member of the Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA) for electric motor service and repair, felt motivated to join the 108-year-old AGMA based on the additional needs of programming, networking events, webinars and committees that cover the latest technology in gearing, power transmission and drivetrain. Like EASA, the membership is exclusive.

“Our gearing solutions enhance our ability to be a comprehensive partner for our customers, unmatched in the Midwest,” stated Malloy Vice President Aaron Wentzel. “We’re dedicated to understanding and addressing our customer’s needs. Our proactive approach ensures we offer the right solutions at the right time—trusting Malloy to be your reliable partner in motor service, repair and gearing solutions.”

Malloy is involved in the power transmission industry and, by joining AGMA, the team will have access to additional resources in education, emerging technology information, standards development and networking with all parts of the supply chain, said Rebecca Brinkley, senior director, Membership, AGMA. “I know Malloy looks forward to bringing their expertise to the table and showcasing the solutions they offer as a trusted repair facility, while learning alongside the greatest manufacturers from around the globe with quality at the forefront of what they continue to do,” she said.

While expanding into new geographical markets, Malloy sees expansions into different product applications and services as equally necessary in the quickly shifting market. Correlational major capital expansions will be publicly released before the first quarter 2025.

AGMA is a voluntary association of companies, consultants and academicians interested in designing, manufacturing and applying gears, couplings and related power transmission components and equipment. Founded in 1916, AGMA is a member- and market-driven organization, conducting programs and providing services to the gear industry and its customers. AGMA member companies currently number more than 495. They include gear manufacturers from the United States, Mexico and Canada and gearing interests from more than 30 countries worldwide.

Founded in 1945, Malloy Electric is an applications-driven, independent distributor and service provider. Malloy is known in the electric motor repair business, accommodating sizes up to 20,000 hp across numerous locations in South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Montana and Wyoming. Malloy’s foundation is in three distinct disciplines: industrial controls, electric motors and mechanical power transmission, where the focus is: “We service what we sell.” Malloy Electric is headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
