ABB integrates NVidia Omniverse and RobotStudio to advance physical AI skills
ABB Robotics has developed an education program powered by NVidia AI technologies, focused on physical AI, ensuring talent readiness for the future of AI in industry.
“Artificial intelligence is moving beyond digital environments and into robotics and the physical systems that make, inspect, move, assemble and maintain industry,” said Marc Segura, president of ABB Robotics. “Physical AI is reshaping the skills needed in industrial environments. As we prepare for the use of these industrial-grade intelligent systems at scale, talent readiness is a key part of deployment readiness. Only with the right skills in place can the full potential of autonomous versatile robotics (AVRTM) be achieved.”
At Automate 2026 in Chicago, Mark Ruth, application engineering manager at ABB Robotics, demonstrated how physical automated systems can be mirrored and trained in virtual environments before reaching the factory floor. By leveraging the NVidia Omniverse platform, ABB's Hyperreality tech preview bridges the gap.
“Learning in simulation helps democratize robotics by giving more people the opportunity to design and test intelligent robots,” said Amit Goel, head of robotics and edge computing ecosystem at NVidia. “Through hands-on learning with ABB RobotStudio and NVidia Omniverse, this program will help students and engineers build the skills to design and test robotic systems in simulation and apply that knowledge to real-world industrial challenges.”
ABB Robotics and NVidia will collaborate on an official learning program to build the skills needed for physical AI, to help translate capability needs into learning opportunities for the next generation of robotics and automation talent (Figure 1). It will include hands-on learning with ABB RobotStudio and NVidia Omniverse, and it will provide a certificate in robotics, simulation and physical AI, on completion.
Following its launch earlier this year, ABB Robotics’ RobotStudio HyperReality is now available to 60,000 RobotStudio users worldwide. ABB Robotics collaborated with Enodo Robotics in the development of RobotStudio HyperReality, bringing together ABB’s robotics and simulation technology with Enodo’s expertise in AI-driven robotics software and the OpenUSD ecosystem, supporting 3D data interoperability across design and simulation.
