Pitney Bowes Incorporates Machine Vision in High-Volume Mail Processing Machines
July 1, 2004
Cognex Corp. (www.cognex.com), a supplier of machine vision systems, will integrate its In-Sight 4000 into Pitney Bowes (www.pitneybowes.com) high-volume automatic inserter systems.
The Pitney Bowes Flowmaster and APS machines process high-volume outgoing mail by automatically sorting documents and then inserting them into mailing envelopes. At several points in the handling process, the vision system will read and verify the unique barcodes that are printed on each document in order to ensure that all checks, notices and statements are correctly bundled together and get properly inserted into the mailing envelope for each recipient.
