These ac-operated LVDT position sensors are available in high-temperature, miniature and hermetically sealed designs and are well-suited for valve applications. They enable accurate monitoring and control of gas turbine valves that regulate the flow of fuel through different components of a gas turbine. By knowing the position of microfuel valve openings, operators can operate turbines with minimal wasted energy. When implemented as part of steam power plant rehabilitation projects, the sensors can be used in a control system to monitor the position of modulating governor and throttle valves. They also can monitor valve position at petrochemical plants.
