New Orders for Motion Control Products Rose 30% in 2010, According to the Motion Control Assn.

New orders for motion control products rose 30% in 2010, according to the latest numbers from the Motion Control Assn. (MCA). The fourth quarter showed particular growth, up 42% over the same period in 2009.

“The recovery in 2010 was evident across all product categories that MCA tracks, including motion controllers, electronic and ac drives, motors, actuators and mechanical systems, sensors, other ancillary components, and support and services,” says Jeff Burnstein, MCA’s president.

The motion control market fell by almost one-third in 2009, notes Paul Kellett, MCA’s director of market analysis. He credits the improvement in the economy for helping to fuel gains. “The latest MCA statistical results leave little doubt that the recovery in the motion control market is both deep and widespread,” he says.
