Aratas America officially spins off of Omron

Launched in July, new company will manufacture and provide relays, switches, connectors, sensors and optical components

Aratas America officially launched as an independent company following the transfer of shares held by Omron to The Carlyle Group.

Established in July, Aratas America will sharpen its focus on growth markets, strengthening its capabilities and accelerating innovation across its global operations.

“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Aratas,” said Judy Connors, president & COO at Aratas America. “We are combining the strength of our heritage with the agility, focus and investment needed to accelerate innovation and drive future growth. Empowered by our talented employees, deep customer relationships and industry-leading technologies, we are well positioned to move faster, invest boldly and create lasting value for all our stakeholders.”

The company will continue to deliver precision electronic components. Its portfolio spans relays, switches, connectors and sensors supporting various applications across automotive, industrial automation, AI infrastructure, data centers, smart buildings, gaming, agriculture, smart energy and power tools. For decades, the company has worked alongside customers such as Itron and KS Technologies to deliver electronic component technologies.

The name “Aratas” combines the Japanese words for “new” and “tomorrow,” reflecting the company’s Japanese heritage, where Aratas is headquartered, as well as its forward-looking vision and commitment to shaping the future through advanced electronic component technologies. Guided by its mission to connect people and technology, Aratas is guided by three core values:

  • aspire—combining ambition and passion to continually pursue new standards
  • agile—working with flexibility and speed to turn change into new value
  • ahead—using foresight to propose solutions that power tomorrow.

As part of its transition to an independent company, Aratas has revisited its business strategy and identified five strategic pillars that will guide its future growth:

  • Focus on growth markets and expanding order intake.
  • Strengthen product development capabilities.
  • Enhance global manufacturing and supply capabilities.
  • Explore medium- to long-term growth opportunities.
  • Drive management and organizational transformation.

In June 2026, Aratas approved plans to relocate and expand its Malaysia manufacturing facility, supporting its efforts to strengthen global manufacturing and supply capabilities. The factory will increase its production capacity to 1.5 times its current level in anticipation of business growth.

Aratas America’s North American headquarters is located in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Aratas America manufactures and provides advanced electronic technologies, serving customers across the Americas. Building on more than 90 years of engineering expertise and a legacy from Omron’s device and module business, Aratas offers a product portfolio featuring relays, switches, connectors, sensors and optical components. Aratas America is an active member of Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA), Electronics Representatives Association (ERA) and Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA).
