Ultra Electronics Acquires W&D Holdings

Acquisition Supports Ultra's Strategy of Extending Its Capabilities in the Communications Sector

Defense, security, transport and energy company, Ultra Electronics announced the recent acquisition of wireless products and services provider W&D Holdings Limited, Basingstoke, UK.

Ultra Electronics purchased W&D with existing facilities and predicted earnings for 2014. W&D will continue doing business out of its own facilities but while newly apart of Ultra Electronics' Communication & Integrated Systems (CIS) business within Ultra Electronics' Tactical Systems Division.

W&D has long been recognized for creating highly-reliable, functional innovative solutions to industry and governments, including radio networks, video monitoring and wireless data platforms.

"I am pleased that we have been able to bring W&D into the Group as a part of CIS," said Rakesh Sharma, chief executive of Ultra Electronics. "This acquisition supports Ultra's strategy of extending its capabilities in the communications sector. W&D's technologies and broad geographic reach complement CIS's existing capabilities and will support planned growth in international markets."
