Phoenix Contact appoints Davis Mathews as CEO of US operations

30-year industry veteran to lead innovation, customer connections and more agile market approach

Phoenix Contact appointed Davis Mathews as chief executive officer of its U.S. operations. He will spearhead efforts to deepen the company’s footprint in the United States, while aligning advanced technical competencies with customer-centric products.

“With its vast potential, the U.S. market offers tremendous opportunities for innovation and growth,” said Ulrich Leidecker, executive board member, Phoenix Contact. “We are confident that Davis, together with the entire U.S. team, will provide strong leadership and drive future success.”

The appointment of Mathews as CEO marks a new chapter for Phoenix Contact in the United States, one designed to foster innovation, deeper customer connections, and a more agile market approach.

“The challenges of Industry 4.0, reliable and sufficient energy, production efficiency, digitalization, and sustainability are fundamental to Phoenix Contact’s DNA,” said Mathews. “I am excited about the prospect of building a better tomorrow, starting today.”

Over his 30-year career at Phoenix Contact, Mathews has held various levels of leadership, beginning in product marketing and most recently as an executive board member. He previously held the position of president of industry management and automation and was a senior vice president of development. Outside of Phoenix Contact, Mathews serves on the board of directors for ODVA, an international standards development and trade organization with members from the world’s automation suppliers.
